Health Coach, Director of Wellness

Director of Wellness, Laurie Williams, MA, CWC, is responsible for the management of the Wellness Center, which is dedicated to promoting positive health behaviors in our patients and for the community at-large. She is a healthy lifestyle expert, mixing her proven leadership skills with a wide-ranging health education background to develop patient-based wellness programming, coaching and health promotion services. Previously, she was the founder and director of Thrive, an exercise and wellness studio where she offered customized exercise, diet and nutrition, and stress management programs for women, many of whom suffered from health conditions. Laurie has also consulted with a number of regional medical practices specializing in integrative healthcare including American Whole Health, Point Performance, Wisneski Health Services and Body Business, Inc., and served as the chief of staff to the Director of Health at the United Mine Workers of America Health and Retirement Funds.

Laurie earned her BA from Tufts University, an MA in Non-Profit Arts Management from American University, and an MA in Health Education from the University of Maryland. She is a certified wellness coach and group exercise instructor, as well as a YA registered yoga instructor. Her professional trajectory has been greatly influenced by her early life as a professional dancer and a life-long love of the arts. She has been studying Iyengar yoga for more than 10 years, and is beholden to her teachers Alyson Ross and John Schumacher.
